!In order to start a conversation about the needs in art education I have set up a Facebook group! This is a place to talk about needs you may have as a homeschooling parent or a parent who desires a richer art education for your child.
I have felt that art class focuses either on agendas of whatever "power that be" designs curricula or we see such a narrow scope of artists and diversity that we lose so many important examples. I think there can be an amazing blend of classical and contemporary in a child's art education. I think introducing kids to the discoveries in the Renaissance is not enough. I also think that heritage of many other cultures needs to be explored.
So, in the group Art Education with New Eyes you will find posts and questions that draw you to that goal. Creative experiences for children that do not fence in concepts or belittle them with agenda. Join today and join the conversation!
I have some new Art Class Warm Up Worksheets in my Teachers Pay Teachers shop. I will be slowly adding new worksheets as I finished up the documents. Look for warm ups on the Elements of Shape and Elements of Art. Part One is on curved lines and celebrates my niece's beautiful hair when she sits for braids to get put in.
There is also a new Art Class Warm Up Worksheet pack that's full of funny images to spark a young artist's imagination. Check those out as well! They are so helpful to get the creative juices flowing!

During your Christmas season, take a moment to think outside of your traditions and learn about other cultures and what they do. Right now, in my Teachers Pay Teachers shop, there are two Christmas Around the World packs. The first is Italy, where we explore the tale of La Befana and the traditions around Epiphany. Part two is Mexico, where we explore the Legend of the Poinsettia. Both lessons pair very well with books by Tomie Depaola. Both packs have templates and activities for an assortment of ages. Keep an eye out as Sweden will be arriving soon! Happy Holidays everyone!
Available to all Mailing List Members is this fun coloring template! You can also grab it up in my Teachers Pay Teachers store. The result is very pretty. I can't imagine how fun it would be to have a whole wall full of beautiful leaves! Sign up to be on the Mailing List for free downloads every month. Over the holidays, you will get many more! We all need plenty of activities for the holiday season.
